The North of England Civic Trust have promoted and improved the awareness of heritage skills such as hedge laying, dry stone walling, stone masonry, blacksmithing, traditional roofing, pole lathe turning, box and sash windows and lime painting. They did this by offering taster days and homeowners’ advice days. They arranged master classes for building professionals to improve their heritage skills. They trained volunteers with master craftsman on the buildings and structures the project has restored.

This Project has now completed.

The North of England Civic Trust have promoted and improved the awareness of heritage skills such as hedge laying, dry stone walling, stone masonry, blacksmithing, traditional roofing, pole lathe turning, box and sash windows and lime pointing

They ran the 2011 Souter Heritage Festival and a series of 34 taster days engaging with a total of over 2,500 attendees for 5,502 hours over the three year period.

The North of England Civic Trust ran 3 Homeowner days for those people with pre-1919 houses. They arranged master classes for building professionals and communities to improve their heritage skills training with a master craftsman on the buildings and structures the project restored.

They ran annual symposiums on topics such as how to include heritage skills in educational outreach; in principled procurement; and educating, engagement, inspiring.
